Choosing a brokerage grounded in captain-level experience brings a higher standard of insight to the charter process. At EJ Yachts, charter planning goes beyond securing availability. Each recommendation is informed by an operational mindset — one that evaluates yachts and crews through firsthand knowledge, anticipates logistical considerations before they arise, and designs routes based on real-world command experience. Frequently Asked Questions

The cost varies greatly depending on the yacht’s size, age, and destination, but rates for luxury superyachts generally start around $50,000 per week, excluding taxes, fuel, and provisioning costs.

The A.P.A. (Advance Provisioning Allowance) is a standard sum paid in advance, typically 35% of the charter fee, used to cover all variable expenses during the charter, such as fuel, food, beverages, dockage fees, and local taxes. At the end of the charter, any unused funds can be used to tip the crew and/or refunded to the client.

During high season, we recommend booking six to twelve months in advance, especially for high-demand areas like the Mediterranean summer or Caribbean winter and for the most sought-after yachts. The earlier you inquire, the more options you’ll have.

Fuel is covered by the Advance Provisioning Allowance (A.P.A.), not the base charter fee. Fuel costs are calculated based on the yacht’s actual consumption during the charter.

Gratuity is voluntary and based on your satisfaction with the service. Standard industry practice is 10% to 20% of the base charter fee, given directly to the captain at the end of the journey for distribution among the crew.
